Revolution Rent

Cuban-American theater director Andy Señor Jr., who made his professional debut as an actor in the Broadway production of Rent has a dream: He wants to stage the Jonathan Larson musical in his parents' homeland. The Miami-based artist co-directs, with Victor Patrick Alvarez, the story of how that ambition was fulfilled, with only 12 weeks to prepare. The Spanish-language production was the first Broadway-level show in Havana in 50 years, and an occasion for deep reflection as Señor explores his own complex relationship with Cuba.
