November 5 @ 12:00 am

Class warfare takes on visceral meaning in this thriller from Brazilian directors Filho and Dornelles (“Neighboring Sounds,” “Aquarius”), astute socio-political observers who weave their own commentary about current events into the saga of a remote matriarchal village, its unusual citizens and the brutal, invasive threat that unites them in ever-inventive forms of battle. The legendary Sonia Braga returns from “Aquarius,” albeit in a supporting role, and everyone’s all-time-favorite cult actor Udo Kier plays yet another indelible villain.
