After Parkland

After Parkland
The aftermath of the horrific 2018 shootings at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., which left 17 dead and 50 injured, is the subject of this powerful documentary, made by two “Nightline” producers who stayed with the story long after their episodes aired. They look at the ways in which several survivors, and parents who lost their children, move forward with their lives, processing trauma and loss, and also each fighting to make a change in their own manner.

Some, like David Hogg, founder of the Never Again movement, become high-profile media advocates for legislation and other action against gun violence; others launch non-profit groups or build memorial gardens, each striving to keep the memory of their lost loved ones alive – even when it can be painful. As one father tells the filmmakers at the start of the film, “If someone murdered my kid, I can take anything.”
